Ingredient Power

The ingredients in SUGAR DYNAMITE were carefully chosen and formulated together to maximize skincare benefits. So, when you read about how great these ingredients are, you'll understand why they're used in our body scrubs and why we love them so much.

SUGAR: Humectant, Hydrates, Exfoliates

SUGAR is a natural humectant. It draws moisture from the environment into your skin. Using sugar based products can help hydrate your skin and retain moisture. Sugar is also a natural source of glycolic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid. This penetrates the skin, breaking down the bond holding the skin cells together. This allows cell turnover resulting in fresher and healthier looking skin. Our sugar is made without bone-char (for more information about bone-char, please visit the FAQ’s).

SHEA BUTTER:  Moisturizing, Reduces Inflammation, Skin Smoothing

The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in SHEA BUTTER makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for the skin. It's often used to remedy dry skin and to help protect the skin’s natural oils.  A 2010 study found that due to its cinnamic acid and other natural properties, shea butter was anti-inflammatory. One compound in particular, lupeol cinnamate, was found to reduce skin inflammation and even potentially help avoid skin mutations. SHEA BUTTER aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying. With long term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening.

COCONUT OIL: Moisturizing, Anti-fungal, Anti-Inflammatory

COCONUT OIL works great for skin and acts as an effective moisturizer on all types of skin, including dry skin. It has been safely used for thousands of years for preventing dryness and flaking of skin without having any adverse side effects on the skin. It also helps in treating various skin problems, including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. For this exact reason, we use it alongside shea butter to maximize skin healing benefits. What more? It also delays the appearance of wrinkles and sagging of skin, which normally accompany aging. The credit to this benefit goes to its well-known antioxidant properties.

SWEET ALMOND OIL:  +Vitamins, Non-Comedogenic, Supple Skin

SWEET ALMOND OIL is skin’s BFF (unless you are allergic to nuts!)  Full of vitamin E, vitamin A, mono-saturated fatty acids, protein, potassium, zinc & VITAMIN E, its an extremely powerful antioxidant. Oxidative stress (A.K.A. when your body doesn’t have enough antioxidants to fight free radicals) is a major cause of the deterioration of your skin’s collagen layer. Since collagen keeps your skin looking supple and wrinkle-free, you want to stave off oxidative stress with antioxidants. That’s where sweet almond oil comes in. Thanks to Vitamin E, sweet almond oil keeps your skin cells healthy, protects your skin from UV radiation damage, and helps your skin look smooth, soft, and free of fine lines.  The fatty acids help your skin retain moisture and can heal chapped and irritated skin.

AVOCADO OIL: Anti-Aging, Calming, Hydrating

The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents in AVOCADO OIL help your skin stay smooth, strong, and elastic. It calms itchy skin, heals chapped skin, replenishes dry skin, protects skin against ultraviolet radiation and of course, hydrates and moisturizes. Some evidence suggests that avocado oil can help treat skin conditions such as plaque psoriasis, a chronic autoimmune condition that causes thick, scaly, red patches on the skin.

GRAPESEED OIL: Rebalances Skin, Moisturizes, Skin-Tightening

GRAPESEED OIL is suitable for skin because of its healing properties. It contains linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid. It also contains other biologically active compounds to benefit health and skin.  Grapeseed oil is helpful in controlling the moisture of the skin, and also contains vitamin E. It’s suitable whether you have oily or dry skin.

GLYCERIN: Moisturizes, Smoothing, Humectant

GLYCERIN acts as a very effective moisturizer on the skin especially when mixed with another oil. It makes your skin absorb water from the air, reducing the dry and dull patches on your skin. Glycerin makes your skin feel soft, supple and hydrated immediately when applied. It also is known for its meditative properties that work to heal dry, rough and irritated skin. Using glycerin regularly will smooth dry cracks over time, nourish and protect your skin. Excellent to use during those cold winter months!

RAW HONEY: Antioxidants, Anti-Inflammatory, Moisturizing

RAW HONEY is amazing because of its skin healing benefits and works wonders for all skin types. It does wonders for a variety of skin ailments including eczema, sensitive skin, lifeless skin, enlarged pores, acne, and rosacea. Raw honey is a super moisturizer with a natural pH level of 4.5, which falls within the skin's natural healthy pH range. Its antiseptic and antimicrobial properties make it great for healing cuts and burns by killing bacteria and fungus. Raw honey also contains gluconic acid, a mild alpha hydroxy acid that brightens the complexion, evens out skin tone and lightens scars and age spots.

MANGO POWDER: Vitamin Rich, Improves Texture, Brightening

MANGO POWDER  is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, iron, phosphorus, and calcium. Perfect for any type of skin, mango powder has skin-refreshing properties.  It makes for excellent dry skin treatment due to its nutritious properties.  As this is an all-natural fruit powder it is non-irritating and makes for an excellent addition to our scrubs, aimed at all skin types. Works well on dry or sensitive skin.

VITAMIN E: Antioxidant, Moisturizing, Strengthening

VITAMIN E is a powerful antioxidant, strengthening the skin’s natural barrier, reducing water loss by locking moisture into your skin to soften and plump it up. It constantly patrols your body, looking for free radicals. When it finds one, it quickly destroys it. The Vitamin E your body naturally makes depletes with age and sun exposure. The more time you spend in the sun without sun protection, the sooner your body goes through its supply of vitamin E, therefore we pack it into our scrubs to replenish your body on the outside and will work wonders if you take it as a supplement to replenish your body on the inside. It also works as a preservative helping skincare products last longer.
